June is Audiobook Month – Listening Suggestions and a Giveaway (ENDED)!

Blog_LoveAudiobooks

You may have heard by now that June is Audiobook month. I personally love audiobooks – I have an hour commute to and from work each day, and that gives me lots of time to listen in the car. I also love bringing along a kids’ or YA audiobook on road trips with my two daughters to help pass the time. If you’ve been thinking about trying an audiobook but haven’t yet given them a chance, read on to see how you can enter to win 3 audiobook downloads. And in case you need some suggestions to get you started, here are a few of my favorites that I think almost anyone would enjoy.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

If you’ve never tried an audiobook, a great place to start is with the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling – narrated by the fantastic Jim Dale. These books not only appeal to all ages, but Jim Dale’s narration is an absolute delight. He has a wonderful talent for bringing each character to life in a unique way, and the wizarding world of Harry Potter presents a perfect opportunity for him to showcase this ability. I re-listen to these books at least once a year.

Evil Under the Sun AudiobookAnother good choice is Evil Under the Sun by Agatha Christie – narrated by David Suchet. Anyone who has followed this blog for a while probably knows that Agatha Christie is one of my very favorite authors. I also enjoy the BBC America Poirot series, so hearing one of my favorites read by the man who plays Poirot on screen is a real treat for me. There are several Agatha Christie audiobooks read by David Suchet, and just as many read by Hugh Fraser, who plays Captain Hastings. If you are a fan, these audiobooks are as much fun as watching the series on TV.

Relic Audiobook

Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, read by David Colacci – the first book in the Agent Pendergast series – is another great choice. Action, adventure, and a hint of the paranormal make for an exciting story sure to hold your attention. David Colacci does a great job reading this novel.

  1. Yes, I’m an audiobook zombie. They really help me get through my day, especially house chores but I also listen while cooking or playing easy computer games or driving. Lately, I’m enjoying a group read of Levithan Wakes by James SA Corey and another group read of Naamah’s Curse by Jacqueline Carey, both on audiobook. Great narrations for both!

  2. I’ve been listening to audiobooks on and off for a few years, but this year something clicked and now I’m addicted. I’ve listened to more of them than read print so far in 2017. Two of my very favorites are Prayers For Sale by Sandra Dallas & A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman.
