Interview with Almond Jones – Author of Wingmen

Wingmen Book Cover

Synopsis: Celeste Bonalee is anything but average. In fact, she’s one of a kind – a highly skilled courier pilot with dreams of owning her own hangar. One last delivery is all she needs.

There’s only one thing stopping her… World War II.

When Celeste is shot down over Paris in 1940, it’ll take more than she ever expected for Celeste and her dreams to survive in a world that is falling apart.

Can Celeste and her wingmen make it back home in one piece? Or will war consume her generation and its aspirations?

WINGMEN is the story of us all and the lessons we have yet to learn.

I am very pleased to host author Almond Jones on The Book’s the Thing today as part of the blog tour for her new book, Wingmen.

Celeste sounds like such a unique character – what (or who) inspired you to create her?

The story itself inspired the character. I wanted to write a story about a woman who knows who she is no matter what is going on around her, who knows what she can be, and who is dead set on being that.

Do you think your story would have worked as well had it been set at any other point in history?

If it were any other decade, I doubt any of the characters would’ve met. The world changed after WWII. It’s still changing but there is a lot we have to learn.

What types of stories can we expect to see from you in the future?

I’m working on some episodic writing but I won’t know the status of my current project for a few months. I start working on my next book some time next year.

Is there a particular author or book that influenced your decision to become a writer?

No, there isn’t. I write because I don’t see stories I relate to. It’s not a race thing. It’s a perspective thing. Film companies are running low on content and ideas. I have a solution to their problem.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I enjoy being in the sun and outdoors.

Thank you Almond Jones!
