Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday they post a new Top Ten list prompt. This week’s list is – 10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me! This one should be easy enough. 🙂 As always, feel free to leave me your top ten or a link to your post in the comments below.
10. The ability to speed-read! I have a TBR pile that I can’t possible get through in my lifetime. If I could zip through a book or two in an afternoon I might just might make a dent in it before I die!
9. An afternoon of tea and scones with Agatha Christie. She’s always been one of my favorites and I’d love to have a nice chat with her about Hercule Poirot over a steaming cup of Earl Gray.
8. Two more hours a day, one in the morning, and one before bed, to be devoted solely to reading. Ok, in all honesty, the extra hour before bed might occasionally be used to get an extra hour of sleep.
7. More books, since I’d now have more time to read them.
6. A passage to Narnia inside my wardrobe. (And a wardrobe. I don’t have a wardrobe.)
5. A cozy little reading nook somewhere in my house to spend my extra 2 hours in.
4. Multilingualism. I’ve read poetry by Pablo Neruda in both the original Spanish and in English, and the translation just cannot compare to the original. I want to read George Simenon’s Maigret novels in French, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in the original Swedish, and so on.
3. A previously undiscovered Sherlock Holmes novel!
2. A home library large enough to house my ever-expanding collection of books.
1. A secret door behind a bookcase hidden somewhere in that library!
Now who can tell me where to find the Book Genie?!
Ahh I want reading nooks.. and libraries.. and secret passageways! Also being multilingual would be awesome. Great list 😀

You could just build a house out of books? The wallpaper could be pages (maybe make it digital so they change from day to day). You could have bookmarks for light switches, etc. Just go all in. 😀

Yes… I think I’d be happy living there! :p

Reading nooks always look so gorgeous! And of course the library and the extra time. I’m so down with adding two extra hours to the day just for reading!

I’d really love a reading nook. It’s probably the only thing on my list I might actually get someday! 😀

What a fun list! I would enjoy meeting with Agatha Christie too, I think. Can I join you both for scones and tea? Oh, and I would love to visit Narnia too!
Multilingualism would be such a marvelous skill. I wish I had thought of that one.

Love the door in the library idea. I would have that go into my secret reading nook that no one else could enter!

#1 is my dream! A secret door leading to a library would be amazing. #2, #3, and #4 would all be fantastic too!

My house is small so I’d have to dig a tunnel underground to have somewhere for my hidden door to go, but I think it would be worth it… 🙂

I think it would too. Plus, a secret underground tunnel into a library would be amazing 🙂

I loved your list. The only one I’d change would be having tea with Jane Austin. I think that would be a real treat. Or, maybe Barbara Cartland and ask her about Princess Di. Of course, Tolkin or CS Lewis would be awesome but they would talk over my head.

I wouldn’t mind afternoon tea with any of those authors! 🙂

Thank you! I’ve always wanted a secret door. (even if it doesn’t take me to Narnia…)

I would like #1,2,5, and 6 too please – do you think the book genie would mind duplicating them for me while he’s at it? 🙂 My TTT

It looks like we have a lot of wishes in common! I seriously considered adding a passage to Narnia in mine, I couldn’t decide between Narnia and Middle Earth and ultimately went with Harry Potter, lol.

I’d love any of those! 🙂

I love all of the pics you included for the libraries and reading nooks! I can’t decide which one is the best. I really like your #4 wish. Multilingualism would be so great to have. Literally no limits on what you could read!

I agree – I took a little German and French in college, but not enough to get through a novel! 🙂

I took French in 7th and 8th grade and Spanish from freshman year of high school through freshman year of college but there is no way I could read in either language and fully comprehend what was happening.

Those reading nooks look so cozy. I personally think every reader needs a decent reading nook. So of course I will be patiently waiting for mine to come too.

I suppose I really need a bigger house first, but I’m sure I could squeeze one in somewhere! 🙂

Yeah… Might need to get a house to make one. I’m not sure my landlord would appreciate me knocking down some walls for built in book shelves for the sake of space and reading. 🙂
