What are you reading Wednesday – 11/11/15
What Are You Reading Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by It’s A Reading Thing. To participate, open the book you are currently reading to page 34 (or 34% in your ebook) and answer these three questions.
The Questions are:
1. What’s the name of your current read?
2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a complete sentence. (or two!)
3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?
Now for my answers this week…I’ve been trying to write more than I’ve been reading this month, but I’m still listening to audio books during my commute. I’ve just finished Queen of the Tearling (and hope to get a review written soon), and now I’m listening to Station Eleven.
1. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel (narrated by Kirsten Potter)
2. Since I can’t find page 34 🙂 , I’m just going to give you a few quotes from the book…
“Hell is the absence of the people you long for.”
“Survival is insufficient.” (yes, it is originally from Star Trek!)
“What I mean to say is, the more you remember, the more you’ve lost.”
“It was gorgeous and claustrophobic. I loved it and I always wanted to escape.”
3. No, no, and a thousand times no!!! A devastating flu pandemic has wiped out more than 90% of the Earth’s population. Even if I survived, I’d rather just stay here…
Now tell me, what are you reading (or listening to) this week?
yikes/ yr book sounds like a night mare/ I join in today with https://namelessneed3.wordpress.com/2015/11/18/its-read-much-wednesday/

I don’t know what I expected, but it’s different. Kind of like The Night Circus meets Cell by Stephen King. In really liking it so far though!

Oh, that first quote… I love it. ❤ And no, I definitely wouldn't want to live in that world, either.

I love the language in this book! Even when it’s being depressing, or eerie, the writing is beautiful.

That sounds like something that could actually happen. Scary thought. I’ve been working on my writing too. I have a hard time finding time to do it.
Thanks for sharing!

It is a scary book – everything happens so quickly! Good luck with the writing – I’m trying to do NaNoWriMo but have let myself get behind…

I have ‘Mistakes and Opportunities’ by Myrna K. Burkes. I have only just started so not sure how I feel about it but it looks like a good mystery. Mimi had developed an uneasy but somewhat comfortable relationship with Steven’s Mom and was able to once again keep him after school for tutoring. I would not want to live here in the time of the story because it resolves around a school shooting in which the Detectives mother has been shoot and then dies. Not a cozy mystery.

I wouldn’t want to live around that situation either!

I had heard lots about it, but still didn’t know exactly what it was about. It’s different than I expected, but I’m really sucked in right now!
