Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie read by Jim Dale
If you have a classic or two on your TBR pile, audiobooks are a perfect way to enjoy them. Many wonderful audiobook narrators and well-recognized actors have lent their voices to the classics. I love to listen to Jim Dale narrate a story, and Peter Pan is an enjoyable classic for the whole family. This would be perfect for your next road trip.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams read by Stephen Fry
Need a good laugh to wake you up on the way to work in the morning? This is a perfect listen, and Stephen Fry does a wonderful job with this classic sci-fi romp through the galaxy.
Along Came a Spider by James Patterson read by Charles Turner
I really enjoy starting at the beginning of an established series knowing there is a long list of books waiting for me as soon as i finish the first one. The Alex Cross series by James Patterson has been a great one to keep me company as I commute to and from work every day.
Bless Her Dead Little Heart by Miranda James read by Jorjeana Marie
If you like your mysteries a little lighter – try a good cozy, like Bless Her Dead Little Heart. This is the first book in a series with interesting characters, adorable animals, and just enough murder and mayhem to keep things interesting. Jorjeana Marie uses just the right accent for this story. I love to listen to cozy mysteries when I’m crocheting, folding laundry, or doing other things around the house.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman read by Neil Gaiman
This is a beautifully written modern fantasy story, and Neil Gaiman is the perfect narrator. Who better to know exactly what inflection is needed where to keep the tension high where it should be, and the emotion strong when you’re supposed to feel what the characters are feeling? I loved this book, and I’d highly recommend the audio version if you are thinking of checking it out.
