A secluded mountain lodge. The perfect getaway. So remote no one will ever find you.
The promise of a luxury vacation at a secluded wilderness spa has brought together eight lucky guests. But nothing is what they were led to believe. As a fierce storm barrels down and all contact with the outside is cut off, the guests fear that it’s not a getaway. It’s a trap.
Each one has a secret. Each one has something to hide. And now, as darkness closes in, they all have something to fear—including one another.
Alerted to the vanished party of strangers, homicide cop Mason Deniaud and search and rescue expert Callie Sutton must brave the brutal elements of the mountains to find them. But even Mason and Callie have no idea how precious time is. Because the clock is ticking, and one by one, the guests of Forest Shadow Lodge are being hunted. For them, surviving becomes part of a diabolical game.

My Thoughts
As a huge “locked room” / “snowed in” / “secluded cabin in the woods” mystery fan, I couldn’t wait to start reading this one. I was not let down – the story was fast-paced and suspenseful, with enough characters and suspects to keep me guessing and second-guessing myself, but not so many that it became confusing. This is one of those novels you can lose yourself in and once you get started, be prepared to be up reading all night.
If you have read and enjoyed Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” (and if you haven’t, you should), then you are going to love In the Dark by Loreth Anne White. Even if you haven’t, you are going to hear enough about it by the story’s end that you may have to go out and get a copy. I loved the way In the Dark paid tribute to And Then There Were None but was still completely original, and I can’t wait to read more from this new-to-me author.
Note to my readers who prefer their mystery on the cozy side – this is a great story, but does have strong language, graphic violence, and some sexual references.

Thank you for the review and extra information about the story. It does sound a little heavy but nothing like a good mystery to keep you going.
