Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday they post a new Top Ten list prompt. This week’s list is Top Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish. There are a some ongoing series that I’m not caught up with, but this list is those series that are written, I just haven’t finished reading them! Let me know if you see one I should really go back and finish, or leave a link to your own post in the comments.
These are in no particular order…..
10. All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness
I loved A Discovery of Witches so I’m not sure what happened here! I will get to this one eventually.
9. Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris
I liked the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris a lot so I had high hopes, but I just didn’t care for Sookie. One book was enough for me.
8. The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve read Shadow and Bone, and I”m just starting on book #2, so I expect I’ll finish this one soon.
7. Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie
I have read LOTS of them, but not all. Finishing all of Agatha Christie’s books is on my lifetime bucket list however, so I do hope to finish these! That covers the Miss Marple novels too….
6. Miss Marple series by Agatha Christie
See Hercule Poirot! 🙂
5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
I have every intention of finishing this one – I just have to read Fairest and Winter
4. Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout
I love Archie Goodwin! I will get to all of these eventually….
3. The Divergent series by Veronica Roth
I liked Divergent, but couldn’t finish Insurgent – the bickering between Four and Tris started to annoy me too much for me to care what happened after a while. I may just (*gasp!*) watch the movies instead of reading the rest of this series.
2. Chronicles of Brother Cadfael by Ellis Peters
I’ve read 4 or 5 of the 20 books in this series, so I have a long way to go…
1. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
I read City of Bones and I liked it, but wasn’t really interested in reading the rest of the series for some reason.
I want to get in to the Shadow and Bone series! Especially with the release of Six of Crows!

Six of Crows got me more interested in it… 🙂

I loved the All Souls trilogy! I definitely recommend finishing these! Not Sookie Stackhouse, though. I read them all, when really, I should have stopped once I stopped enjoying them, which was pretty early on. I kept waiting for the series to get better again, but it just never did!

Glad to hear I won’t be missing too much if I don’t get back to Sookie Stackhouse! I really do want to finish All Souls though!

The All Souls trilogy and the Grisha trilogy are two that I’ve been meaning to get around to for a while; they both sound really good. And I feel the same way as you about Divergent. Actually, while I was reading Insurgent, I felt like it might actual be a more successful story in movie form rather than as a book (but I still have yet to watch the movie, so I’m not sure!). Great list! 🙂

The movie was not bad, so I think I’ll just wait for the them to make Allegiant and watch that one too! The first books of All Souls and the Grisha were good, so I have high hopes for the rest of those….

The Lunar Chronicles is a series on my TBR to read, I’m just waiting for Winter to be released so that I can read them all at once. I haven’t finished the Divergent Trilogy yet either, though I only have the last book to read.

I don’t blame you…I love being able to read a series all the way through like that!

The Divergent movies are SO good, but really different from the books. I liked both for different reasons!
Here are my Top Ten!

I know Divergent was different…I wondered about Insurgent. I just saw it recently, but hadn’t read that one!

Insurgent the movie was so different from Insurgent the book, it was ridiculous. Divergent was probably my favorite book out of the series, the other two just kind of went down hill for me from there. Initially after reading them, I rated them fairly high. The more time that passes the more meh I feel about the last two books

I’ve yet to read the Lunar books! They sound amazing and since I am such a bit fairytale fan, I hope to enjoy them. Hope you like the rest, Erika. Thanks so much for visiting Dreaming Under the Same Moon. 🙂

I had the same thought after reading divergent. I don’t see myself reading the rest of the series but I may watch the movies. I did love the city of bones series though…read the whole series!

I’ve only heard of one or two of these series! I love some of the cover art on the others though.

I wouldn’t know where to start with my list of ten. I received a new one today
1-Riddle by Elizabeth Horton-Newton ( From Knoxville according to the return post)
2-Stone Cold Case by Catherine Dilts
3-Refining Fire by Tracie Peterson (Have read several of hers and all good)
4-The Making of a Navy Seal by Brandon Webb
5- Many, many Loveinspired Suspese which are quick to read and will usually get read first for that reason.

I had trouble getting to ten, but have found lots more I missed looking at other people’s lists today.

I realized I don’t think I finished the Sookie Stackhouse series, but it got ridiculous somewhere in the middle for me, which same goes for the series. I have the first All Souls book and haven’t started it and it’s driving me crazy!

I thought I might go back to the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I hear a lot of comments like yours! 🙂

I haven’t finished Mortal Instruments or Divergent either. They were spoiled for me
But I want to start the Lunar Chronicles and Grisha Trilogy this month or next month

I really like what I’ve read of both of those – hope you enjoy them!

Reading your list made me realize I have more of these than I thought. Some I just lost interest in. Some like you said with Divergent/Insurgent, the interactions of the characters start to annoy me. Some, like the Sword of Truth series, I got tired of the author getting preachy about pet subjects. He got to the point where I would tell the book to get back to the story of the characters involved. Hehehe.
I’d like to work on some of the ones you mentioned myself. like the Cadfael books and the Nero Wolfe ones.

I’ve given up on books when an author gets too preachy on a certain subject too – I don’t mind if a character is adamantly for or against something (whether or not I agree with them), but I don’t like to feel like I am being lectured when I am reading!

Yep, that’s it exactly. 🙂

My girlfriend is adoring Shadow and Bones. She went 2 pages into it and already wanted to read the next two volumes. I suppose it’s a hint for you to complete that series as well ! 😀

So many books…so little time.
If only I didn’t have to sleep, eat or go to work! 🙂

Yes! I could read them all…. 🙂

I really enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse series for the most part. Towards the end it got a little ridiculous and I HATED the ending but oh well. I really can’t wait to finish the All Souls trilogy. I have a feeling I will be starting those as soon as I finish the Throne of Glass series (of which I am in the middle of #3 and have #4 waiting at home) and The Grisha Trilogy (of which I need to read #3).

I’ve heard good things about the Throne of Glass series – I think I’ll have to give that one a try!

I’m the same way with the All Souls trilogy! I loved the first two books, and was so excited for the third and then I still haven’t had a chance to read it. I really need to do that.

My problem is just that it’s one of so MANY books I’m dying to get to… 🙂

My exact thoughts. I hope to start book two in this trilogy this month.
