Patriotic Reads for the Long 4th of July Weekend

Although I’m happy to read almost anything at almost anytime, I do sometimes like to tailor my reading to the season. Hercule Poirot’s Christmas at Christmas time, Halowe’en Party in the fall (sense a trend here?), and so on. With the 4th of July just around the corner, and the extra day of free reading time that will give me, I thought it would be fun to read a story that occurs on the 4th of July, or maybe a nice political thriller. If you’d like to do the same, here are a few suggestions…

4th of July or Whitehouse Themed Cozy Mysteries
Light, quick, reads are perfect when there is company coming or you’re trying to grab a chapter in between your holiday preparations. Plus, you may be able to squeeze in 2 over the weekend! 🙂

Oh Say Can You Fudge A Timely Vision (A Missing Pieces Mystery #1) A Catered Fourth of July (A Mystery with Recipes, #10) Act of Darkness (Gregor Demarkian, #3)  Independence Slay (Celebration Bay, #3) Yankee Doodle Dead (Death on Demand, #10) Bowled Over (A Vintage Kitchen Mystery, #2) State of the Onion (A White House Chef Mystery, #1) Flowerbed of State (A White House Gardener Mystery, #1) Knee High by the Fourth of July (Murder-by-Month Mystery #3)

Political Thrillers
Because sometimes you just want something besides fireworks to get your heart pumping…

The Jefferson Key (Cotton Malone, #7) The Fifth Assassin (Culper Ring, #2) Foreign Influence (Scot Harvath, #9)
Patriot Games (Jack Ryan, #1) Memorial Day (Mitch Rapp, #7) Absolute Power

A few final mysteries…
A few more that don’t really fit into the either of the other categories – and I’m thinking one of Suzanne Adair’s historical mysteries might be just what I’m looking for this 4th!
Red, White, and Blue Murder (Sheriff Dan Rhodes #12) Regulated for Murder (A Michael Stoddard American Revolution Thriller, # 1) Twanged (Regan Reilly Mysteries, #4) Paper Woman (A Mystery of the American Revolution, #1) Deadly Politics (A Molly Malone Mystery, #1)

What will you be reading this weekend?
