Now for the Question of the Week:  (Suggested by Becky’s Barmy Book Blog)
Undiscovered talent – tell us about a book you loved but no one else seems to have heard of. It can be new or old, any genre. Let’s spread the love.

My Answer – Absolutely anything by Fredric Brown! My Dad introduced me to his short stories in The Best of Fredric Brown years ago, and I was hooked. I love his pulp mysteries and his unexpected twist endings. He may not be as eloquent as some writers, but he can sure tell a good story.

whatareyoureadingwed
What Are You Reading Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by It’s A Reading Thing. To participate, open the book you are currently reading to page 34 (or 34% in your ebook) and answer these three questions.

The Questions are:
1. What’s the name of your current read?

2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a complete sentence. (or two!)

3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

Now for my answers this week…

1. I’m reading book #2 in the Grisha seriesSiege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)

2. I snatched at the Darkling’s sleeve. “We had a deal. I haven’t done anything. You said – ”
The Darkling looked at me with cool quartz eyes, and the words died on my lips.

3. I have mixed feelings about this one. I would not want to live under the Darkling’s power, but there are places in this world that might offer a peaceful, comfortable life if you could do without the modern conveniences we are used to.

Your turn! Now tell me what you are reading this week, or leave a link back to your post in the comments.

Book Blogger HopFeature and Follow Friday is hosted by fellow bloggers Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every Friday they feature one or two bloggers and pose a question for other participating bloggers to answer. It’s a chance to find some new blogs to visit, and gain some new followers in return.

This week’s featured blog is Newbie Librarians – be sure to visit them and check out the feature on the hosts’ pages.

Now for the Question of the Week: Name a movie you would have loved to read as a book ( That is not a book already obviously) – Suggested by Go Book Yourself.

I would like to have read Jupiter Ascending. I was disappointed in the movie. It wasn’t bad, but I felt like it was lacking in detail and so I tried to find the novel afterwards, thinking it would have more depth. I learned that the movie was not based on a book!

Now for my answers this week…

1. The Mine by John A. Heldt
The Mine (Northwest Passage #1)

2. Ten minutes after leaving the Canary, Joel discovered that stores on Main Street did not take credit cards. They did not exist in prewar America. Two Sacagawea dollars clinking in his pocket were similarly useless, as was a checking account opened in 1996.

3. This is a time-travel / romance novel. While I wouldn’t mind visiting the past, I would not want to leave everything (and everyone) behind to stay there!

So what are you reading today? Any new recommendations for me? 🙂

Feature & Follow Friday 8/28/15

Book Blogger HopFeature and Follow Friday is hosted by fellow bloggers Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every Friday they feature one or two bloggers and pose a question for other participating bloggers to answer. It’s a chance to find some new blogs to visit, and gain some new followers in return.

This week’s question:

Share a random quote from the book you are currently reading.- Suggested by Journey Through Fiction

“It was one thing, she thought, to have a giant pumpkin–growing contest, but quite another to encourage people to transform their giant pumpkins into extremely unstable watercraft for a foolish and dangerous race across the cove. And worst of all, she thought, turning into her driveway and spying the enormous wooden structure that was taking shape in her backyard, was the pumpkin hurl, featuring homemade catapults.” – from Candy Corn Murder by Leslie Meier

  2. She found herself feeling rather anxious as she climbed the stairway, which was dark and cramped, and she breathed a sigh of relief when they reached the meeting room, which was surprisingly large and airy, with windows overlooking Main Street.
  3. Tinker’s Cove Maine seems like a nice enough little town, and as long as the crime spree in the book gets handled first, I wouldn’t mind living there!

So how about you? What are you reading this week? Let me know, or leave a link to your own post in the comments. Happy reading! 🙂

The question this week is: If you could have any animal in the world (fictional counts too) as a pet, what would you pick? (Suggested by BookCatPin)

If I could really keep any animal, I think I would have a meerkat. I always have to stop and see them when we visit the zoo – and they are small enough to live in my townhouse without taking over! 🙂

How about you? What would be your dream pet? Let me know in comments, and if you play along, leave a link to your Feature and Follow Friday post!

3. This is a young adult sci-fi novel. While it might be interesting to visit another world, I think I am happy right here on Earth!

Now tell me – what are you reading this Wednesday?

2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a complete sentence. (or two!)

3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

1 – This week I have an advanced reading copy of House of Thieves by Charles Belfoure
House of Thieves: A Novel
Available September 15, 2015 from Sourcebooks Landmark

2 – When you present your calling card to the butler, Julia, you must wait to see if the lady of the house will receive you. If the butler tells you, “She’s not at home to callers”, that’s perfectly acceptable. Don’t take it as a slight.

3 – I love reading about 1880’s New York and the ins and outs of society, and I wouldn’t mind cruising around town in a horse drawn carriage. I don’t think I would want to stay forever though. I would miss too many modern conveniences, especially my air conditioning and my Keurig brewer…. 🙂
