What are you reading Wednesday – 10/7/15

whatareyoureadingwed

What Are You Reading Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by It’s A Reading Thing. To participate, open the book you are currently reading to page 34 (or 34% in your ebook) and answer these three questions.

The Questions are:
1. What’s the name of your current read?

2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a complete sentence. (or two!)

3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

Now for my answers this week…

1. The same as it has been for the past couple of weeks! This is what happens when I read too many books at once – I don’t finish any of them. 🙂 Here are links to past WAYRW posts for all of the books I’m still reading, if you’re interested in reading more about any of them.

happy-homicides Prisoner's Base (Nero Wolfe, #21) Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2) The Mine (Northwest Passage #1)

The only thing I have finished recently is a cozy mystery audiobook I was listening to during my commute back and forth to work – hopefully I will have a review for that this week.

I’d still love to hear what you are reading this week – leave me a link to your post or a comment to tell me.

  1. I’m currently having the same issue where I’m reading so many books at once and I haven’t finished any. I’ve also been really busy at work lately so that might be part of the problem. Hope you get to finish yours soon. My goal is to finish at least 2 of mine this week.

    Happy reading!

  2. I do the same thing! I end up in the middle of a bunch of books. Then they seem to all finish at once. 🙂 I need to start doing this meme again, I didn’t have time a few weeks back and got out of the habit. Next week!

  3. I am reading “Rodeo Hearts” which is a collection of 3 stories by Joyce Livingston.
Page 34 – He whistled on the way back to his ranch in the noisy jeep, his eyes drawn to the empty seat beside him, the one she’d occupied the day before. “So, she’s made her decision. She’s going to stay.”
The ranch is in Nebraska. I could live there under certain conditions but prefer where I am.

  4. 1. What’s the name of your current read?

The Devil’s Trumpet by Mary Rosenblum (Kindle version – print version is out of print for the whole 4 book series though you can buy copies used. I have the print copies as well but just bought the ebooks of the first two books which became available this summer.)

    2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a complete sentence. (or two!)

“I don’t think I’m going to have any trouble sleeping.” Rachel yawned “Actually, you’d probably like their closest neighbor – Doreen Baldwin. She’s into herbs, too. She put some in the lemonade.”

    3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

Yes, I would love to live in Blossom, Oregon. 🙂 It is a small town (fictional) in the fruit orchard region of Oregon not too far from Portland – near the Columbia River Gorge. The area sounds beautiful!
This is a really wonderful cozy mystery series that the writer, through circumstances beyond her control, had to quit writing. I hope some day she’ll write a few more. 🙂

      1. The print version is under the name “Mary Freeman.” They were released by Berkley Prime Crime – first one in 1999. Her editor with them fell ill and had to leave immediately. In the mad dash to replace him, her books got lost in the shuffle and weren’t “picked up” by a new editor. When the dust settled, the company decided not to pick them back up – and of course Berkley held all the rights so she couldn’t offer them to another publisher or self publish.

But, the contract was before ebooks existed and so had no eformat clause. They had no control over her publishing them in ebook format, that’s why she was able to do this new release with her usual name on them. The other two books will release as ebooks in 2016 – I think. I know they will be getting produced and released, just not sure of the date.

They’re great books. 🙂 – and yes, I’ll confess, I know her personally. She was my novel writing instructor (she wrote the course manual) and is now my writing coach. Yay Mary!
